Important notification from Superintendent Rossetti regarding incident on January 7th

Dear Blue Hills Community:

This letter is to notify our school community that a freshman student brought a pellet gun and a live round of ammunition to school Tuesday.

At this time, there is no danger to the school community, and no threats have been made. Both items have been placed in custody of the Canton Police Department.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., a school official was notified by multiple students that a male student may possibly be in possession of a firearm. The Canton Police Department was notified immediately and responded to the school promptly.

School officials pulled the student out of class and a black pellet gun was found inside his backpack. The pellet gun was extremely realistic in appearance. A round of live ammunition was also found on the student.

Blue Hills Regional Technical School and the Canton Police Department are actively investigating the incident. The student will face discipline in accordance with the school's student code of conduct.

This is something that we take seriously and we would like to thank Canton Police for their prompt response to the school and launch of their investigation. We would like to reassure everyone that there was no threat to the school community and we praise the students who came forward with what they had heard.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Blue Hills.

Very respectfully,

Jill Rossetti
Superintendent-Director
