Blue Hills Regional Technical School
“BUILDING CAREERS ONE AT A TIME”
Students at Blue Hills Regional Technical School have a history of academic achievement, superb technical training, and character development. Through a curriculum which emphasizes the integration of cutting-edge technical programs
and challenging academic courses, we enable them to become competent, caring and productive people in a diverse and changing world.
The Blue Hills Regional School District was formed on December 17, 1963, to serve the needs of member towns’ residents. The District includes Avon, Braintree, Canton, Dedham, Holbrook, Milton, Norwood, Randolph and Westwood.
The District School Committee was then authorized by the towns to establish and maintain educational programs at the secondary, post-secondary and adult levels in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 74 of the General Laws of the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts.
The school opened in September 1966. Its immediate success, coupled with increasing admissions, necessitated the building of additional facilities. Moreover, local employers
needed more employees specially trained in certain areas.
By 1976, the building was expanded to house approximately 1,230 high school students
while also serving another 1,400 students in adult education programs.
Blue Hills Regional Technical School is located in Canton, Massachusetts, in a geographical region that has abundant opportunities for students. Scores of outstanding colleges and universities are situated in Greater Boston, along with thriving businesses that employ our graduates. With easy access to Boston and Route 128 – an area famous for its high concentration of industrial technology – this location provides excellent opportunities for employment. Situated on a 35-acre campus that borders a tranquil MDC reservation, the school has a beautiful view of its namesake, “Big Blue” Hill.
Much has changed at Blue Hills over the years, but our commitment to giving each student the highest-caliber academic and vocational education possible remains as steadfast as it was four decades ago. Our administrators and teachers dedicate themselves to preparing these exceptional young men and women for a productive future no matter what path they choose after graduation from Blue Hills – further education, entering the workforce, or a career in the military. We’re very proud to play a role in their success.
