The Blue Hills Regional Water Safety Instructor Course is offered in the Spring Session on Monday Night from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

This course will certify you to teach the newly revised American Red Cross Progressive Learn-to-Swim Program. This program requires participants to meet the following pre-requisites:

  • Minimum 16 years of age by course conclusion
  • Minimum Level 4 Swimming Ability
  • 80% on all written work assigned
  • Full participation and attendance at all classes

Lifeguard Training

The Blue Hills Regional Pool offers Lifeguard Training Classes three sessions during the year. Check the registration site listed above for updates. Session 1 will begin in September and end in December 2007. Session 2 will begin in January and end in March 2008 and Session 3 will begin in April and end in June 2008.

Session 1 - will be held Monday nights from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. beginning in September 29, 2008.

Session 2 - will be held Monday nights from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. beginning in January 5, 2009.

Session 3 - will be on Tuesday night or Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. or Saturday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. beginning in April 2009.

Lifeguard Training Classes Lifeguard Candidates must pass a pre-requisite swim the first night of class. This pre-test includes the following

1. 300 yard Swim - 100 yds. crawl stroke face in the water, 100 yds. Breaststroke (these must be done continuous) and 100 yds of either the crawl or breaststroke or combination of either.

2. Starting in the water swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to bottom of pool, retrieve a 20 lb brick, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to starting point with the brick and exit water without using a ladder or steps within 1minute and 40 seconds.

3. If you fail pre-test your funds will be refunded.

4. Attendance and participation in all class sessions is a requirement.

Minumum age is 15 years old by end of class you are registered for proof of age will be required first class session with driver's license or birth certificate.

Attendance and participation in all classes is MANDATORY.

 

 

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Review Courses

Blue Hills Regional has established the following Course Schedule for Lifeguards needing to update their certifications for this coming summer:

Full Lifeguard Training Review includes new certification in Lifeguard Training - CPR/AED training and First Aid Training

  • Dates:T.B.A.
  • Time: 8:30 AM to 5 PM each day
  • Cost: $T.B.A. District Community $T.B.A. Non District
    Fees include all text, materials, pocket mask and Red Cross Administrative Fees.
  • Attendance: Mandatory attendance for all three Saturdays is a requirement for course certification

CPR for Professional Rescuer with AED

CPR for Pro Rescuers is the course required by local Health Departments for certification for lifeguards. New Red Cross Standards in this course will mean an full day review session and will require new text.

  • Date: T.B.A.
  • Time: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Cost: $T.B.A. for district members and $T.B.A. for non district members if you need a new tex. If you have the 2007 LGT Course Text the cost for the course is $50 for District members and $55 for non-district members. If you need a pocket mask for either course it is an additional $15.00. Please register for the proper course so the correct number of text and masks will be available.
