The job of Water Safety Instructor is the heart
of the operations of the Recreation Division. This employee
is critical to the instructional Learn-to-Swim Program here
at Blue Hills, the largest program in New England. Instructors
are hired for evenings and Saturday mornings.
Pay rates vary with experience. A.R. C. Water Safety Instructor
Certification required. |

Lifeguards at Blue Hills have an opportunity to
be scheduled from 3 p.m. weekdays through our entire rental
period on Saturdays and Sundays as well as lifeguard for our
Learn-to-Swim program and assist our lesson efforts. What better
way to earn a few dollars for College than to be involved with
the largest program in New England. A.R.C. Lifeguard Certification
required in addition to current CPR for Professional Rescuers
and Community First Aid. |

Aides are hired to assist lifeguards and instructors
with the Learn-to-Swim program. Instructors provide the aides
with specific direction on a nightly basis, aides assist children
in the water, take attendance and prepare equipment for class. |

The pool attendant works afternoons and weekends
as an additional resource for pool rentals to check chemical
balance, clean pool gallery, re-stock restroom supplies and
be sure building remains secure, doors locked and lights out
at conclusion of days activities. |

The gym attendant works nights and weekends as
an additional resource for gym rentals to check locker rooms,
restock restroom supplies, set up scoreboard, put viewing stands
in and out and ensure that patrons follow guidelines for parking,
food and drink rules and regulations and perform general clean
up at end of day activities and secure facility at end of evening. |
