The Blue Hills Regional Technical School Guidance Department offers a comprehensive developmental Guidance program which provides a variety of proactive and responsive support services to assist each student to reach his/her full potential.
The goal of the Guidance Department is to promote the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students through a sequential program emphasizing the individual needs of each student.
Counselors meet with all students on a regular basis in group sessions, classroom and vocational activities, individual appointments, and workshops.
Ongoing program services include:
- Vocational selection and placement
- College and career planning
- Social/personal counseling
- Academic planning and monitoring
- Parent outreach/consultation/and education
- Teacher/staff consultation and collaboration
- Resource coordination
- Information delivery
- Crisis intervention
- Coordinating and monitoring 504 plans
The freshman Guidance Counselor works with all grade 9 students to assist in their transition into high school, and coordinates the freshman Exploratory program. After the freshman year, students are assigned to a specific counselor by vocational program. The upper-class Guidance Counselors follow students from their sophomore through senior years.
